Touche Poupard dam

When you arrive at the Touche Poupard dam, you will quickly be impressed by the scale of this site! A forested landscape, which surrounds the Chambon river, that flows and joins the Sèvre Niortaise a little further on… a large stretch of peaceful water : the water of the rising sun.

Touche-Poupard dam

Built and commissioned in 1995 on the Chambon, a tributary of the Sèvre Niortaise, it is located on the territory of 4 communes: Saivres, Éxireuil, Saint-Georges de Noisné and Clavé.

This dam is actually made up of two bodies of water.The first is used as a reservoir with a capacity of 15 million m3 and is intended to store water in winter for use in summer. The second, the Rising Sun Dam, where there are many activities offered to the public.

Sailing Club

The Touche Poupard

On the outskirts of the “lake of the rising sun”, the Touche Poupard sailing club offers nautical activities :

– sailing every day with a membership

– family sailing on your own boat or on a support available on the site (Hobbie Bravo catamaran, Canoe, Optimist…)

– sailing adapted to different groups: schoolchildren, children/adults with disabilities, young people and adults.

Walks and hikes

30 km of hiking trails have been laid out with informative boards of the landscape, fauna and flora, picnic areas, fishing areas and walking paths.

– Clavé the four streams (walking route): this circuit runs alongside the Touche Poupard dam and allows us to discover an abundance of flora and fauna.

– Lake of the rising sun (walking route). This circuit offers various points of view on the lake. And tree shaded paths for walkers and runners.

Between nautical activities, hiking trails, picnic area or even fishing spots, this place offers great prospects for a day of leisure. The site of the Touche Poupard dam is fragile and protected, please respect these places so that everyone can walk there in peace while admiring the beauty of this site.
