The parish church of Sainte-Néomaye is dedicated to this young girl from Gallo-Roman high society, who is said to have lived in Loudunais around the 5th century.
In the 6th century, a chapel was built in her honour. Tradition has it that the church of Sainte-Néomaye was built on her tomb.
It was destroyed in the 8th century. In the 12th century, a first church was built on the site of this chapel, which was destroyed during the Wars of Religion.
In 1695, a new church was built.
