Avon stubble
Extending over nearly 2000 hectares including military land, the Chaumes d’Avon are at the crossroads of several varieties of landscapes and are home to many faunal (amphibians in particular) and floristic (wild orchids) species. This high heritage value has earned Les Chaumes d’Avon the classification as a Natura 2000 site.
More than half of the surface of Les Chaumes d’Avon is made up of the military camp. This presence has allowed the conservation of the bocage landscapes, the ecosystem and has favored the maintenance of traditional agriculture where the lawns and natural meadows are mainly grazed by cattle.
The New-Aquitaine Conservatory of Natural Spaces regularly organizes discovery outings. A unique space that you have to discover with a flashlight at nightfall, the atmosphere is… magical!
